Mini-facelifts are aesthetic procedures that offer significant results with minimal recovery. For many patients who want some cosmetic work done but aren’t interested in a full facelift, this is an excellent alternative.
What are the Benefits of a Mini-Facelift?
Compared to a traditional facelift, a mini-facelift has several benefits. The mini-facelift:
- Requires only local anesthesia
- Is performed as an outpatient procedure
- Has a shorter surgery time
- Involves minimal scarring
Mini-facelifts are also generally more affordable than full-facelifts because they’re less involved procedures.
Why Do People Get Mini-Facelifts?
Patients opt for a mini-facelift when they want some facial cosmetic work performed but doesn’t need everything that comes with a full facelift. Mini procedures may be done to lessen folds and creases, firm up excess skin around the jawline, loosen skin on the chin, remove a double chin or lift drooping cheeks.
If you’ve noticed any of these issues and think you may be a candidate for a mini-facelift, schedule a consultation with Dr. Tolson. He can describe the benefits of this procedure in more detail and determine whether you’re a good candidate for it.
How Long Does a Mini-Facelift Take to Complete and Recover From?
As mentioned, mini-facelifts are performed as outpatient procedures. This means the entire operation is done in a single day, and patients go home that day. There are pre- and post-op appointments with the doctor, but the procedure itself requires no overnight observation in a medical facility.
Although patients are able to go home the same day, mini-facelifts are still surgical procedures that require a recovery period. The recovery period should be thought of in stages. Assuming everything proceeds normally, those stages are as follows:
- Swelling and other side effects normally subside in 1 to 2 weeks
- Any sutures are removed approximately 10 days after the procedure
- Regular work can normally be resumed 10 days to 2 weeks afterward
- Moderate exercise can normally be resumed in 2 to 4 weeks
- All benefits are fully realized within a few months
Following all prescribed post-op directions will help reduce the recovery time and maximize the results from the mini-facelift.
When Can Patients Get a Mini-Facelift?
So long as there are no major underlying medical conditions or injuries, mini-facelifts can usually be performed when it’s convenient to do the procedure. Make an appointment to discuss when would be a good time for you to undergo the procedure if you’re interested in this type of aesthetic work. As soon as you go through a consultation with a doctor, the procedure can be scheduled.
