What is Accreditation?

Our facility is what’s called an AAAASF-accredited surgery center. The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, or AAAASF, is a national organization that was established to standardize the requirements of safety, cleanliness, and quality in outpatient surgery centers around the country. Although the AAAASF is a private, independent organization, the state of California began requiring all outpatient surgery centers to achieve and maintain this rigorous accreditation in 1996.

In order to comply with state law and to keep our patients as safe and as comfortable as possible, we abide by – and surpass – the following standards, among others:

• The use of well-maintained, up-to-date equipment to monitor patients
• High standards for sanitation and building codes
• Anesthesia administered only by a board certified anesthesiologist

In order to maintain accreditation, our facility is also regularly inspected and monitored by AAAASF representatives.
